hello all,

our dear friend and group member, blakeman davenport ,arrives in sf today. she is coming to dinner tonight. we are very psyched. this is totally quite. "totally quite," for those of you not familiar or who don't remember, means something is very good. in a recent thread on fb,the wailing one, breezing boy of summers past, one alex rudback, used this term, which lead to a brief discussion of the lingo.

i have asked toadally the non and the wailing boy to dissertain on this subject. we have something wonderful to look forward to. it will be, as we say, totally quite. in the meantime, a small glimpse into the nuances of the speak. i remember fondly the word vodoten, but have no idea how to properly use it. turns out you can't, or maybe it needs to be invented. there is no vodoten. my recollection is a fraction of the phrase:"Ishkabibbly-oaten-doaten-Vohdoh-un-chew." i have no idea how to use this fantastic sounding phrase, but i want to learn or re-learn as the case may be. can you re-teach an old dog old tricks. we may never know, but pointer would.

additionally, alex wrote this:"gebah is still useful for describing the ineffable and moments of strangeness, awkwardness, and, well, gebah moments." i have always used the word differently. i have always used the word as a kind of all purpose pronoun. ie instead of saying," get me the hortence parabolic stimulator from my laboratory,." i would instead say,"get me the gebah from my laboratory, and also the lip that attaches it to this gebah." after doug made he and i co-gibas of the fb group and kevin sime suggested we call this news letter the geeba news, i began to have a broader more malleable sense of the word and it's spellings. clearly, we are just beginning to delve into the depths of this one. more to come!

keep him there, I pray.

Doug Grean will be joining Morning Glory on stage on Sun, Jan 17th. Doug jammed with Doug Haxall and MG guitarist, Pat Dore, on Monday. DH reported,"Awesome! Jam went great, but will be even better Wednesday evening for the full band rehearsal."

At press time, your editor does not have a report on last night's jam. However, I am quite sure it was totally quite! If you are in striking distance of LA on Sunday, get to the bowling alley, order a White Russian and dig it!

For those of you not familiar with Doug Grean, he was in the awesome Westchester Greatful Dead tribute band, Crimson Rose, with Avram. He spent a bunch of years in New Orleans, he had a terrific band called The Joneses that played a few gigs with dreamspeak.
