The Geebah Issue #19
happy new year!
i am ready for some awesome shit to happen this year! i am looking forward to seeing more of all of you. i am looking forward! we are busy jumping into the year. working on projects getting some new things started and getting some of our yearly projects rolling.
nye was kind of mellow for us. we went to a small party a couple of blocks from home, a musician we know. he had gear set up for his band and other musician guests to play. col was tired and walked home early. daniel and i stayed. i was out on the back stoop chatting and taking in some air. when i walked back in, people were shaking my hand telling me that the boy was incredible.
evidently, the guys invited him up to play. he strapped on a a blue green fender stratocaster and led the band in the who's "won't get fooled again." he also sang. yes, and his parents weren't there. we are definitely disappointed that we missed it, but we are also proud that he had the composure to get up and play for a bunch of strangers.
it is fun to hear him tell the story. "i was nervous, but i didn't want them to just think i was a scared little kid." he was very psyched to have played that strat. to all my hippy parents, next time you step out back for a chat and a puff, try and figure out what your kid might be about to do. ah well, i'm sure i will catch some other shows of his along the way.

Adventures in La-La-Land #4: Doug and Doug Reunite!
Yes, it's true, we two Dougs, almost-famous jam band veterans from 1980's
New York, are getting together on Sunday January 17th for the Martin Luther
King Day Memorial Lebowski-Fest Morning Glory show at the All Star Lanes in
Eagle Rock. Actually, I jest, as Mr. Grean certainly has much more right to
claim the "famous" label than I, having worked with an absolutely
extraordinary array of great American musicians as both a producer,
songwriter and performer. He even has his own Wikipedia page -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doug_Grean - what more need I say? So we are
duly honored to have him join us on January 17th. Hey, it is MLK weekend -
most of you on this list could probably use a little L.A. sunshine. Why not
fly out for the weekend and have some fun with us? The great thing about
the bowling alley is that it has a full restaurant and bar in addition to
the lanes, so you can really make an evening of it. January is a wonderful
time of year here in SoCal. The weather is warm, the skies are clear and
blue, and it really is as close to tranquil as Los Angeles gets... these are
the days that remind me why I moved here. It's a great time for a visit.
Come!
Peace from the Land of LA, Doug.

There are some rough cuts from the studio up on there. Craig Dryer joins us on Hammond Organ and Sax (If there is both piano and organ it is craig on Hammond). All the stuff is done live in the studio, vocals, solos, etc. Just like a show.
There is also a video of The West Side All-Stars from the Underground Lounge up our facebook page.
