The Geebah Issue #17
hello all,
merry christmas. the latkes were a smash! also, we had a hell of a jam going on in the garage. uncle luke was the ring leader. excellent stuff! special honorable mention to fiona mccormick for holding it down on the drums, great job keeping time. we also had a great little ukulele session going on at the end of the gathering. rock -n-roll coming up from the basement, people strumming and singing in the living room it was wonderful.
with uncle luke, uncle nate and aunt amy k, it was very family; some of daniel's frat aunts and uncles. of course, uncle diz aka sean flynn and sloth, also, basically an uncle, were there with their lovely wives. and, other very dear and wonderful people in our lives. family, our great extended family, i am so very grateful for all of you. i am so very grateful that i have the geebah to stay in touch with so many of you.
i am so lucky to have such a large, extended family. i treasure my frat brothers and sisters, my hippy brothers and sisters, my jewish brothers and sisters. truly, i treasure you all and i know you will understand that i have a very special bond with my brother, danny cohen, the other cohen brother. when my kid brother was born, my father's father said to my father,"mazel tov! the cohen brothers!"
when our father, the late great dan cohen, looked at us and just said those three words,"the cohen brothers," it was as if he was pronouncing a truth of miraculous wonder. so, we were infused with this sense importance of being brothers. i think that this deep bond that we have is the foundation upon which i have built such an extensive family of dear friends. it is because i have such a very wonderful brother, that the idea of having more siblings seems so appealing.
most of you have heard me kvell about danny at one time or another, i am sure. here i go again. my little brother is wonderful writer. so, i am sending a lip as part of this geebah(fb tells me message is too long with it as part of geebah), a piece he just wrote about mama walker. you might remember that i wrote a bit about her in geebah #14. such a great lady, needs to be memorialized properly. thank you danny, for doing it so well. family is everything! please, cherish one another.

MG just had an epic gig in Eagle Rock. Our old friend, Doug Grean was there and wrote this on the dresamspeak fb group wall. "I went and Saw Doug's band Morning Glory last night at the Eagle Rock Bowl. They were awesome. All band members are great players and play well together. Doug is playing bass better then ever. It really made me nostalgic. The bass solo/coda on Eyes of The World was outstanding. If you get a chance you should check them out you'll not be disappointed."
Doug Grean now lives in Eagle Rock and Doug Haxall has extended an invitation to him to sit in with MG. I hope i get to be there when that happens.

There are some rough cuts from the studio up on there. Craig Dryer joins us on Hammond Organ and Sax (If there is both piano and organ it is craig on Hammond). All the stuff is done live in the studio, vocals, solos, etc. Just like a show.
There is also a video ofThe West Side All-Starsfrom the Underground Lounge up our facebook page.
